Bag Raiders “WATERFALLS” – Music Video
“…elegant, dramatic, and inspiring.” Dancing Astronaut
“dope…chiller… so catchy.” Complex
Bag Raiders (Jack Glass and Chris Stracey) have teamed up with renowned collage artist, Alexandre Coll to create a stunning, psychedelic video for the duo’strack “Waterfalls.” PRESS HERE to watch exclusively on KCRW.com. “For the ‘Waterfalls’ video, we wanted something that was a little abstract and visually interesting and exciting,” says Bag Raiders. “We’ve always loved the paintings of Rene Magritte, and how they can really transport you someplace else with their landscapes and mysterious characters. We follow a few collage artists and when Gee.G showed us Alex Coll, we felt his work could really capture this feeling, which we had also tried to create with the song.”
The director Gee. G expressed that, “The boys had a pretty strong idea of what they wanted, something transportive and different. Influenced by the wonderful work of pioneers like Terry Gilliam, I wanted to make something surreal and imaginative, but still modern. To me that is very true to the song ‘Waterfalls;’ it’s not hiding its influences but presents them in completely refreshing and original ways. When we stumbled across Alex Coll, I instantly loved the way his images created brand new worlds by displacing familiar imagery into new or strange settings. He lives in Spain so it was a virtual collaboration designing each scene from hundreds of images he has collected over the years.”
College artist, Alexandre Coll says, “I wanted to represent spaces and situations that in some way were an image of what the song was telling. Kind of disconnected pieces of lost memories.”
“Waterfalls” is from the band’s acclaimed Waterfalls EP (out now on Modular Records), which also includes “Vapour Trails” and tune “Wonderland. All three ofthe EP’s songs landed within the TOP 10 on Hype Machine‘s Popular Chart, and marks the comeback of Bag Raiders, who originally broke in 2010 with their certified GOLD debut album.
