WithTwo Vines, the Australian band invites listeners to enter the jungle paradise that marks the third remarkable age of the Empire Of The Sun. “There was an image we talked about very early on with this record, before we wrote the title track, ‘Two Vines,’ and that was this image of a modern city overtaken by jungle, almost like mother nature taking back the planet,” says Nick Littlemore, the co-pilot with Luke Steele of this fantastic vessel of electro-futurist sound and vision. “All the buildings will turn back to sand. All it will be is nature again. We wanted to make something that reflected the beauty of that.”
“High and Low,” which captures the innocence of youth and the thrill of trying things for the first time, can be streamed on Spotify HERE. The animated static video can be seen HERE. Rolling Stone observed, “With their pulsating single ‘High and Low,’ Empire of the Sun venture ‘down where the summer and the late nights last forever.’ Acoustic guitar chords give way to booming synth-pads on the chorus…” SPIN hailed the track as “exuberant” and Billboard praised it as “a straight-up party tune which flows with melodies, synths and good times.”Idolator noted, “The dreamy anthem picks up where debut single/belated 2016 hit ‘Walking On A Dream’ left off – with hazy synths, multi-layered production and a nod to the past.”
Recorded in Hawaii and Los Angeles, Two Vines is co-produced byEmpire Of The Sun and Peter Mayes (Sia, The Killers, Mika),alongside long-term collaborator, Donnie Sloan (Midnight To Monaco). Pianist/arranger Henry Hey and bassist Tim Lefebvre, from David Bowie’s Blackstar band, feature heavily on the album. Other collaborators include Wendy Melvoin from Prince’s Revolution and Fleetwood Mac‘s genius guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham.
While the band was working on Two Vines, their eight-year-old single,“Walking On A Dream”(from the 2008 album of the same name), was tapped for Honda’s “The Dreamer” commercial – and shot to the top of the radio and Shazam charts. To date, “Walking On A Dream” has more than 100 million streams and views of the accompanying video exceed 50 million.

ABOUT EMPIRE OF THE SUN
In 2008, two of Australia’s leading musician/producers, Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau), created a vision that seemed to come from an alternative reality – a post-apocalyptic psychedelic adventure known as Empire Of The Sun. The resulting album, Walking On A Dream, went on to sell 1.5 million copies worldwide. Eight ARIA awards (including Album of The Year, Single of the Year and Best Group), 2 BRIT nominations (including Best International Album), and many accolades followed. To date, the band has sold three million copies combined of their albums Walking On A Dream and Ice On The Dune, and reached Multi-Platinum status with global singles “Alive,” “We Are The People” and “Walking On A Dream.” Empire Of The Sun’s live show has become the highlight of festivals worldwide with its larger-than-life production. SPIN praised the band’s Coachella performance as”out of this world.” Empire Of The Sun headlined the historic Hollywood Bowl last fall, performing for sold-out crowd of over 17,000 fans.
